Rome/Kiyv [ENA] The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe is the world's largest regional security organization. The Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office in Ukraine and in the Trilateral Contact Group, Ambassador Martin Sajdik, made today the following statement:“I truly regret that on 7th August 2019 the Security working group of the Trilateral Contact Group was not able to hold its extraordinary

meeting in form of a video-conference, as had been proposed by the Ukrainian side. It is my strong belief that, in the spirit of the Minsk agreements, open discussions among all sides of the conflict are necessary for ensuring adherence to a sustained ceasefire as well as for finding a peaceful political solution to the conflict in the east of Ukraine. I urge all sides to fully, entirely and unconditionally adhere to their recommitment to ceasefire that was agreed in the TCG and successfully came into force on July 21. Not only does the memory of past victims requires it, but also the demand of avoiding possible new ones, especially in the run-up period to the new school year”.

According to Russian Mission by OSCE progress in disengagement of forces and hardware in Stanitsa Luganskaya and start of demining on both sides by Kiev and Lugansk are important steps towards de-escalation. Now disengagement in Petrovkoe and Zolotoe has to be finalized. Fulfillment of Minsk agreements and decisions of Contact is not capitulation of Ukraine but the way to achieve peace in the country. Russia wishes new Ukrainian government will follow this logic.
